What is PDY?

The Positive Direction for Youth Conference is one of the leading youth conferences in the state of North Carolina that takes the unique approach to educate, equip, and empower today’s youth to make decisions that foster positive results.

With a combination of thought-provoking workshops, nationally acclaimed entertainment and interactive activities for youth, this two-day high-energy event is focused on developing youth who will be assets in their communities.

Parents, youth directors, pastors, educators, professional athletes, and community leaders are all inclusive of this refreshing time of empowerment, thus receiving information to assist with bridging the gap between youth and adults.

“Youth will leave this conference with the confidence of knowing how to exercise the power of choice, set goals, and how to work toward those goals.” – Bishop Mellette

Tye Tribbett

Grammy-Award Winner, New Jersey-based gospel singer, songwriter, choir director, and multi-instrumentalist Tye Tribbett formed the ensemble Tye Tribbett & Greater Anointing, or G.A., in the late ’90s. The group was asked to back country superstar Faith Hill on her tour in 2000, resulting in a flurry of appearances and recording work with everyone from Will Smith, Usher, and Mary Mary to Don Henley, Justin Timberlake, and Sting. Their first official recording, “Let Go, Let God” appeared on Dreamworks’ Prince of Egypt compilation in 1998. The live recordings Life and Victory Live followed in 2004 and 2006 on Columbia Records/Sony Gospel. In 2010 he released his first album without Greater Anointing, simply titled Fresh. He has since released five albums, won 2 Grammy’s, and now host BET’s Joyful Noise, which shows Sundays at 9am.

Jor’Dan Armstrong

Jor’Dan Armstrong has a purpose. He also has a unique sound. And even more so, he has something to say. Though it may not be easy for most music listeners to classify Jor’Dan Armstrong as a Gospel artist because of his commercial mainstream sound, the 30- year old Baton Rouge, Louisiana native is definitely an inspiration. Armstrong is an outstanding vocalist and percussionist who has been performing since the age of five. A skilled producer and a passion for his craft, Armstrong’s music transcends the traditional approach to Gospel music and offers fresh perspective to many who have not been interested in the genre before. Jor’Dan Armstrong’s goal is to broaden the scope of who gospel music can reach. He has had the privilege of traveling around the world and captivating audiences with his stage presence and unique sound.
